Atlanta: America's nerdiest city

Atlanta: America's nerdiest city

ATLANTA -- Meredith Placko's closet isn't about clothes. Instead, it's about an identity. The racks contain many of the essential ingredients for a life she lives proudly as a nerd.

"The whole world is kind of embracing the geek chic concept," said Placko, a blogger and freelance TV producer.

It starts with Dragon*Con, the annual downtown Atlanta sci-fi nerdfest that cinched Placko's decision to move here from south Florida three years ago. Dragon*Con helped vault Atlanta to the top of a list of America's nerdiest cities, according to a real estate site.

GSU tops 'Sugar Daddy' list, UGA is No. 8

GSU tops 'Sugar Daddy' list, UGA is No. 8

ATLANTA -- Two Georgia schools are on a national list, one of them at the top, for female students in search of a "Sugar Daddy."

Georgia State University is home to more than 30,000 of some of the brightest and best students in the country.

The Panthers, however, have ranked at the top of an unusual list on the website seekingarrangement.com.

The site puts GSU at No. 1 when it comes to female students seeking out men, known as "Sugar Daddies," who are willing to fund their entire education.

The site says it surveyed nearly 3,000 students who went on line searching for a man. NYU placed second and the University of Georgia came in at No. 8.

Harry the Hawk spotted on his morning commute

ATLANTA --  During the 8 a.m. commute through Downtown Atlanta, one of our senior web producers was sitting at a red-light, when he turned and saw Harry the Hawk on a motorcycle trying to get to work. (we think)  He snapped this great picture that we just had to use on the website.

I pull up at a light on Marietta Street on the way to work this morning, and look to my left... lo, and behold, Harry the Hawk was headed to work, too!

The Atlanta Hawks will be entering the first-round of NBA Playoffs against the Boston Celtics next week.  The Hawks have 1 more regular season game versus the Dallas Mavericks.
