ATLANTA -- For being the world's busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport's security line wait time is about average compared with its major peers.

The average security line wait time in Atlanta is 10 minutes, according to a FareCompare list.

FareCompare used a variety of sources to compile the list, including the U.S.

ATLANTA -- A subcommittee of local elected officials took nearly four hours Monday to hammer out a $6.1 billion list of highway and transit projects to be funded by a proposed regional sales tax.

The Atlanta Regional Transportation Roundtable's Executive Committee voted unanimously for the projects just more than seven hours before a deadline required by transportation funding legislation passed by the General Assembly last year.

The bill gave roundtables in 12 regions across Georgia until Aug. 15 to develop preliminary project lists. The final lists that will be submitted to voters in each region next year must be completed by Oct. 15.

The Falcons pre-season home opener is at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Georgia Dome. The lots open for tailgating five hours before the game. Seasons ticket holders who haven't yet received their tickets for Friday's game are encouraged to go online to the Falcons website and print them out for free.

Gas prices ticking back up

ATLANTA -- Gas prices rose in Georgia for the second week in a row as oil prices continued to climb, according to AAA Auto Club South.

The price per gallon of gasoline in Georgia now averages $3.66, compared with $3.57 a week ago, $3.58 a month ago and $2.57 a year ago.

The national average price of unleaded regular gasoline is $3.67 a gallon -- 5 cents more than last week.

AAA Auto Club South said oil prices continued to increase last week as investor optimism about the economic recovery drove prices higher coupled with momentum from a weakened U.S. dollar. Oil prices closed Friday at $97.49 a barrel on the New York Stock Exchange -- $1.29 more than the week prior.
