The HBCU Atlanta Football Classic is Back this Weekend

Atlanta, GA--  The Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic is one of the nation’s largest HBCU football games pitting long-term rivals Florida A&M University and Tennessee State against each other on the gridiron. This annual event also is the 100 Black Men of Atlanta’s largest fundraiser for its mentoring, academic support and scholarship program, Project Success.

The Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic, the fierce 22-year football rivalry between Florida A&M and Tennessee State, is coming back to Atlanta Sept. 25. Florida A&M is looking to continue their nine-game winning streak against the Tennessee State Tigers, but the Tigers have new Head Coach Rod Reed leading the pack.

Atlanta Police Officers to Box for Charity and to Support the Police Athletic League

ATLANTA -- Crime isn't the only thing Atlanta police officers are fighting.

Next month, two of the city's finest will climb into the ring for a cause close to their hearts, the Atlanta Police Athletic League, a non-profit program that uses sports, education and recreation to connect police and local youth.

Atlanta Track Club Unveils Updated Website and Blog for All Runners

Atlanta, GA--  The Atlanta Track Club (ATC) unveiled a new look and feel for its web site, atlantatrackclub.org, to better serve Atlanta Track Club members as well as the Atlanta running community.  The revamped web site features easy-to-find information on upcoming ATC races and past events as well as the latest in Atlanta Track Club news and membership information.  As part of the redesign, enhanced site navigation and a keyword search function were added to help visitors easily find the information they need. 

Along with the recent web site facelift, Atlanta Track Club has found its place in the blogosphere with the Atlanta Runner’s Blog, the ATC’s forum to share training tips, information on runner’s health, stories of inspiration as well as insights on events and running routes with Atlanta runners and fitness enthusiasts.  The new blog,

TBS and Comcast's Xfinity Brings the Lopez Party Bus Tour to this week's Falcon's Game

Atlanta, GA--  Xfinity from Comcast and TBS present the Lopez Party Bus Tour!

The mobile tour will stop in Atlanta on Sept. 19 before the Atlanta Falcon’s game, from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., in Lot A (“The Gulch”) at Park Avenue West, off Marietta Street.

The Lopez Party Bus Tour is designed to interact directly with viewers with the fun and excitement of the show.  Participants will experience the atmosphere of the show via a 36’ trailer designed as a club environment with video walls, booming speakers, spotlights, video studios, disc jockeys and dancers.

World Cup In Atlanta? Maybe.

Atlanta, GA – Mayor Kasim Reed and a delegation of sports enthusiasts and community leaders gathered with international and national soccer officials in New York City on Monday to support the United States’ bid to host the 2018 or 2022 World Cup. The group was also there to promote Atlanta as one of the potential 18 host cities.  Joining the Mayor in New York were Gary Stokan, Atlanta World Cup organizing committee chairman, Frank Poe, Georgia World Congress Center executive director and Rich McKay, Atlanta Falcons president. 

The U.S. Bid Committee hosted a reception in New York City to welcome the FIFA Inspection Delegation to the United States.  FIFA, the world soccer federation, visited New York City to examine America’s bid to host the 2018 or 2022 World Cup.  The United States is among 10 nations bidding for the World Cup.  The announcement is expected to come on Dec. 2, 2010.  If the U.S.

Want to Run in Atlanta's Half Marathon this Thanksgiving? Train with a Coach Now

Atlanta, GA-- For those runners who will be running in the Atlanta Half Marathon on Thanksgiving morning, Coach Will Dillard, along with Fleet Feet Sports Atlanta, will have a training program designed specifically for intermediate and veteran runners.

An informational meeting and sign up will be at Fleet Feet Sports Atlanta on Sunday, September 12th at 3:00 p.m., and group runs begin Saturday, September 18th.

The cost of the program is $99.00 and will include the following: Ten Saturday group runs from various locations with optional Wednesday training runs beginning October 6th, a detailed written schedule, seminars on injury prevention and nutrition, access to Coach Will at the runs and by email for training questions, weekly email training tips, a long sleeve technical tee for race day, and socks and other goodies from program sponsors.
