Atlanta, GA--  The Falcons have risen up to be Division Leaders and are fully on their way to a deep NFL playoff run.  Jonathan Babineaux, veteran Defensive Tackle, must believe in "paying it forward" and that good things come to those who give back because in 2010 he has given back to over 50 charities in local area.

As of January 2011, Jonathan Babineaux has donated to 51 community and non-profit organizations.  Jon babineaux donated home game tickets and special T-shirts.  Babineaux created his “Babineaux’s Unit” as a means to simply say “Thank You”.  Jonathan purchased approximately $40,000 lower-level tickets and custom-made t-shirts for Atlanta’s non-profit community organizations.

Falcons are in the Playoffs and City Hall Holds a Pep Rally

Atlanta, GA--  Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Falcon owner Arthur Blank, and Freddi the Falcon will all gather to lead hundreds of fans in a special Pep Rally for the Atlanta Falcon's Playoff birth.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their jerseys or at least Red and Black and to arrive early and show their support for the Hometown Falcons.

The event happens at 12 noon of Monday 12/27 at City Hall. (55 Trinity Avenue)

Why: The U.S. is bidding for the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ and Atlanta is one of 18 cities being considered as a site for the games, should the U.S. win the bid.

Philips Arena Begins Food Concessions Upgrade

Atlanta, GA--  Philips Arena, home of the  Atlanta Hawks and the Thrashers, announced the completion of the first phase of a multi-million dollar investment in its food and beverage operation. 

The concept changes, renovations and technological enhancements to Philips Arena’s dining offerings come on the heels of a $4.6 million redesign of its private business suites.  Since opening in 1999, Philips Arena and its concessionaire, Levy Restaurants, have partnered with Buckhead Life Restaurant Group to offer menus from some of Atlanta’s most renowned restaurants to its club and suite-level guests.  

On the general concessions side, for the first time since its opening Philips Arena will offer Buckhead Life Restaurant Group fare.  Veni Vidi Vici, Nava Taqueria and Buckhead Diner Express highlight the additions to the food offerings on the building’s main concourse.

New Director of Athletics for Atlanta Public Schools

Jeff Beggs was recently named the new Director of Athletics for the APS school district. He will be responsible for leadership of the interscholastic sports program, sports training and aiding in healthy competition throughout all grade levels.

Beggs has an extensive 31-year background as a system-level athletic director, a high school athletic director, head coach, assistant principal and teacher for a number of schools and school districts in the state.  Also, he currently serves as president of the Georgia Athletic Directors Association (GADA), where he is also a member of the GADA Board of Directors.

Georgia Marathon Made Major Announcement Today at Centennial Park---Publix is New Major Sponsor

Atlanta, GA--  US Road Sports & Entertainment Group, owners and operators of the Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon, will stepped up to the podium at Centennial Olympic Park and made a major announcement about the races.  Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall and Falcons players Brent Grimes and Brian Williams were guest speakers and attendees at the downtown event, with Fred Kalil, Sports Director for WXIA-TV 11alive news, emceeing the ceremony. The Major announcement was that Publix was taking over as the Major Sponsor for the event March 20, 2011.
