Dream signs veteran guard Kelly Mazzante

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Dream announced today the team has signed guard Kelly Mazzante and waived guard Brittainey Raven.

"Kelly is the type of player that can step up and contribute right away," said Dream General Manager and Head Coach Marynell Meadors.  "It was a difficult decision to let Brittainey go, but I am excited about what Kelly brings to our team.  She is a veteran leader and an outside scoring threat that can stretch the defense.  Her experience and ability to spot up and knock down the shot is going to help us."

Equipment Manager sees second NHL team leave

DULUTH, Ga. -- When it comes to the NHL in Atlanta, Bobby Stewart has seen it all.  He has served both the Flames and Thrashers as Head Equipment Manager.

The official announcement of the Trashers sell and relocation to Winnipeg brings some familiar feelings for Stewart, who joined the Flames in 1973 and moved to Calgary in 1980.  The native of Montreal loved Atlanta and jumped at the chance to return when the Thrashers landed in 1999.  Now he is faced with helping another NHL team pack to leave Atlanta and head north to Canada.

MLB Round the Mound program makes a stop in SW Atlanta to promote baseball to the inner city

MLB Round the Mound program makes a stop in SW Atlanta to promote baseball to the inner city

SW Atlanta --  Orlando Hudson, 2nd baseman for the San Diego Padres is committed to supporting and recruiting more Black Americans to the sport of baseball.  There has been a dramatic decrease in the amount of Black American players in the Major Leagues since the late 60's and the days after Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier.

Hudson believes that baseball is the best and hardest sport in the world and that the youth just do not get a chance to see as much of it as they do with football and basketball.

Three years ago he started the Round the Mound program which is a 5 city tour which stops at various inner city baseball parks to show his appreciation and support of the players and the coaches that are keeping baseball relevant .  He also hopes to reach kids that may not be playing baseball and parents who may not think of baseball as a preferred sport, and to show them how much funand the upsides of playing ball.
