BEST SPOTS: To Run in the City

BEST SPOTS: To Run in the City

ATLANTA -- For this week's edition of Best Spots, we have compiled a list of best places to run for beginners, intermediate and advanced runners.

Recently, running has risen in popularity due to people discovering the different benefits it offers. Running has been proven to lessen stress, aid in weight loss and can serve as a method of meditation. According to the Seattle Times, 26.5 million people in the US run 50 days out of the year.

The Silver Comet Trail is known as “the only truly flat place you can run in Atlanta”. The trail starts near Mavell Road in Smyrna and runs all the way to the Georgia/Alabama line, near Cedartown and Esom. The trail is a favorite among runners searching for a leisurely stroll and good scenery.

ATLANTA -- The Braves are back in town after a three-city road trip that lasted almost two weeks. Their six game winning streak ended with a thud last night in an 8-3 loss to the Astros, but a 7-and-3 road trip was just what the team needed.

Jair Jurrjens looks to continue his dominance at Turner Field tonight as the Braves open a three-game set against the Mets.  Jurrjens is 8-and-2 with a 1.82 ERA, the lowest qualifying ERA in baseball, and the young right hander is tied for second in the majors in wins.  The Braves enter tonight's game just 2 and a half games behind the first place Phillies.

Utility player Brooks Conrad joined Fred Kalil live on 11Alive News at 6.
