Pizza Hut offering 50% off online orders

Pizza Hut offering 50% off online orders

(WXIA) -- Twenty years ago, Pizza Hut delivered its first-ever pizza to be ordered over the Internet.

Now, the pizza chain is celebrating this milestone by offering a half-off online deal for customers.

Medium and large Pizza Hut pizzas will be 50 percent off when ordered online now through Jan. 10.

Pizza Hut has also launched Hut Lovers, a loyalty program that provides members with exclusive deals.

A large pepperoni, mushroom and extra cheese Pizza Hut pizza was the first physical good ever purchased online, according to Pizza Hut chief marketing officer Carrie Walsh.

"We want to celebrate the fact that before consumers could buy books, clothes, music or vacation packages via the Internet, they could place an online order for a Pizza Hut pizza," Walsh said in a statement. "We're doing so by giving back to our customers who have helped us lead the way with digital innovations over the last 20 years."

The epic 12th annual food festival featured over 100 of the city’s premier restaurants and fed more than 45,000 hungry Atlantans. With one-stop access to the city’s varied culinary landscape, an impressive amount of featured cooking classes and seminars and an incredible support of non-profit, community programs, Taste of Atlanta has once again cooked up a recipe for success.

ATLANTA -- On the surface, Ria's was a diner-- maybe, just a diner. But a diner that impassioned its patrons.

"The brisket. If that was my last day on earth, that's what I'd eat," said J. Christopher Arrison, a patron.

"My favorite was the french toast," said Kimberlynn Oliver, who works in a nearby salon. "Once I had my first dish, I was hooked."

The diner owed its flavor to its namesake. Chef Ria Pell lent a larger-than-life personality to Ria's Bluebird Café -- and to an entire neighborhood. Her restaurant set the stage for this community's resurgence.

"I think it's amazing she took this street, which is not the most inviting place, it's gray and industrial, and she made a place where everybody likes to go and feels at home," Arrison said.

"This was like an anchor in the community. And all this sprung up all around it," said Thomas Pearson, a patron.
