A Unique Camp Field Trip this summer would be to visit the Lilburn Temple

A Unique Camp Field Trip this summer would be to visit the Lilburn Temple

Lilburn, GA --  Stemming from the Hindu belief that there can be unity in diversity, BAPS values living in harmony with others.  Worshippers and visitors of all cultures, beliefs, and gender are welcomed with warmth and respect at all BAPS Mandirs.

A Mandir is a Hindu place of worship – a haven for spirituality and a place of paramount peace.  It is also a center vibrant with social, cultural, and spiritual activities.  The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir was inaugurated in August of 2007 after only 17 months of construction time utilizing 1.3 million volunteer hours.  The Mandir is comprised of 3 types of stone (Turkish Limestone, Italian marble, and Indian pink sandstone).  More than 34,000 individual pieces were carved by hand in India, shipped to the USA and assembled in Lilburn like a giant 3-D puzzle.

Turner Construction Company Announces New LEED Gold Certified Cobb County Superior Courthouse

The Cobb County Superior Courthouse in Marietta received its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council on April 25.  It is the largest LEED Gold certified courthouse in the Southeast. Turner Construction led the design/build effort with design partners Pieper O’Brien Herr Architects and HDR.

“Cobb County had requested a LEED certified project, and Turner and the design/build team were able to deliver the LEED Gold project approximately three months ahead of schedule and give back to the county approximately $1 million,” said Turner Construction Company project manager Winston Williams Jr.

Don’t be the fool at the pool!

Don’t be the fool at the pool!

It's almost pool party time. We've got new bikinis and can't wait to break them in. But before most public pools "officially" open Memorial Day weekend we decided to give a refresher in pool/beach etiquette. ‘Tragically , not everyone was born knowing how to act at the pool or beach.  Unfortunately, there are some people who really need to be told not to poo, pee, spit, or blow their nose in a pool. For those of you who know better bear with us, and for those of you who don't, read on!

Time-Lapse Video of Emory Commencement Preparations

Every year, volunteers set up chairs on Emory University's quad to prepare for commencement.  This year, I put together a time-lapse video of 90 volunteers setting up 14,000 chairs.  It took three hours to do it, and you can watch it all in one minute.
