Dog owner uses highway billboard to find his pet

Dog owner uses highway billboard to find his pet

ATLANTA -- How far would you go to find your missing dog? One man is offering $2,000 to anyone who finds his dog. And the way he's getting the word out is a bit unconventional.

Jay Cunningham, the owner of Superior Plumbing, is also the owner of a pit bull/lab mix named Petey. You've probably seen his company's adds on billboards throughout the metro Atlanta area. Now he's using a billboard to help him find his dog.

Cunningham posted flyers in the neighborhoods where his dog went missing. But
many commuters may have seen his reward poster on a billboard.

The billboard is on the I-75/85 connector just north of University Avenue and just south of Turner Field where Petey ran away.

Cunningham said his dog was on a bus that Superior Plumbing used to transport an ALS patient and his family to the Braves game Sunday afternoon. It was the ALS patient's last wish.

Star pet painter paints Pirelli

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- "I've done everything from sales to marketing, accounting," said Emily Griffith. But one day nine years ago, long after most people have chosen their life's path, Griffith found a new one.

"I was early in my 40's, and I had no idea I knew how to paint," she said.

Turns out Griffith was a natural, and even though she calls a first painting of her dog primitive, it's still better than most people could ever do.

"The more you paint, the more your eye gets trained," she said humbly.

Almost 1,000 paintings later, Griffith is a renowned painter -- of pets.

"That's what I'm known for is capturing the dog's personality," she said.

Especially when that dog is the dawg -- Ugga. Griffith has painted Uggas 7, 8 and 9.

She also painted actress Tori Spelling's dog, who died.

And she's painted hundreds of not so famous pets, no less adored by their owners.

Hi, I'm Lelo. Let me tell you about myself. I get along with other dogs and I get a little scared at first meeting new people, but once I get to know you then I JUMP for joy and spin around in circles! I would be a great addition to a family that understands that I cannot have people food and keeps me on Blue Buffalo food (It is my favorite food so far!!!). I am not sure how I would act with small children and dominant animals. If you would like to know more about me please call the shelter today. Thank you for reading my story I can't wait to meet you! Our dog and puppy adoption fees are $250.

Protect Your Kids and Pets from Summer Heat

Protect Your Kids and Pets from Summer Heat

Summer in the south is officially here! With rising temperatures, it is important to take steps to protect those around us who might be vulnerable to the heat, like our children and pets.

Did you know that we lose heat by sweating? Water literally evaporates into the atmosphere and sucks the heat out of our bodies. Children produce even more heat than adults. This is because they have more body surface for their height. Children are also closer to the ground – and to hot pavement. They can easily become dehydrated or overheated.

Here are some tips to keep your children and pets safe in the heat.
