1 arrested after fatal shooting in NW Atlanta

ATLANTA – Atlanta police have arrested a man after an apparent argument ended in a fatal shooting.

The incident happened overnight Wednesday at the Envoy Apartments in northwest Atlanta.

Police say a witness reported the two men in an argument. That witness said at some point both men pulled out guns.

According to police, a man in his 20s was shot to death. Authorities said that there's no indication he ever actually fired his weapon.

The alleged gunman was arrested and charged with manslaughter.

Police: 'Foul play' involved in bus trip death of child

ATLANTA -- Atlanta police say foul play is suspected in the death of a 2-year-old child who died after a Greyhound bus trip.

Police said an autopsy report indicated that Ty-Mia Simpson died of asphyxiation and compression of the neck. Authorities said a toxicology report indicated trace amounts of a narcotic in the child.

The child's mother, Alexus Washington, 19, is charged with murder, reckless conduct and second-degree cruelty to children in the death of Simpson.

Janelle Monae joins protest in downtown Atlanta

ATLANTA -- A Grammy-nominated singer joined in a protest in downtown Atlanta on Monday.

Janelle Monae has been attending anti- police brutality rallies and marches around the country this summer while on tour. On Monday, the Atlanta-based artist joined activists and members of the community in Woodruff Park.

Fatality identified in shooting near Atlanta homeless shelter

ATLANTA -- Police have released the name of a man killed in a early Sunday morning shooting outside of the Peachtree-Pine homeless shelter.

Investigators said Ating Eminue, 24, of Lawrenceville and a woman were walking back to their car after leaving a nearby club around 1:30 a.m.

That's when they apparently got into an argument with someone who pulled a gun and shot them both before fleeing the scene.

Eminue died at the scene and the woman was rushed to the hospital.

She's expected to recover.

Georgia Tech student says she was racially harassed

ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech officials are conducting an investigation into an alleged racial incident involving a campus fraternity.

Phi Delta Theta is conducting its own investigation as well as Georgia Tech.

The victim, a black female, fourth year business major, talked to 11 Alive News about the incident. She asked not to be identified because of the alleged hatred involved in the incident that happened on August 11, 2015.
