Heavy rains cause isolated flash floods

ATLANTA – A line of heavy rain showers moved across metro Atlanta Wedensday afternoon causing some isolated flash flooding.

Parts of I-85/75 were flooded and cars were stranded near Freedom Parkway just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.  The Downtown Connector was also partially flooded near International Boulevard.

Scattered light to heavy rain showers could be seen on radar across North Georgia Wednesday afternoon.  Despite the isolated flooding, the National Weather Service did not issue any severe weather watches or warnings for Metro Atlanta.

Meanwhile, the heavy rain is being blamed for the collapse of roofs at two buildings on Fulton Industrial Boulevard.

The roofs of 200 Bucknell Court and 5155 West Park Drive collapsed under heavy rain, Fulton County Fire Rescue Department officials said.  Both buildings were evacuated and nobody was injured.
