ATLANTA (WXIA) -- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will be holding an event at the Georgia World Congress Center Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.

Trump's appearance will come on the heels of the South Carolina Republican Primary on Saturday. Trump currently leads the field of six major GOP candidates going into the this weekend's South Carolina Primary, according to USA Today, with 32.5 percent, over his nearest rivals, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, statistically tied for second place at 19.8 and 19.5 percent, respectively. 

John Kasich and Ben Carson are tied for fourth, each with 6 percent, while Jeb Bush is in sixth place with 4.8 percent. 

The numbers shift only slightly in South Carolina, with Trump's lead increasing to 35 percent; Cruz has sole possession of second place at 17.8 percent. Rubio is in third at 16 percent; Bush lands in fourth at 9.8 percent, Kasich in fifth at 9 percent and Carson in sixth at 6 percent.

The Georgia Primary is one of more than a dozen states with primaries or caucuses being held on March 1.
