ATLANTA -- Monday, Atlanta Public Schools voted to create it's own police force. It represents a major change in how the district handles student safety, and it's drawing criticism from high places.

Representatives with Atlanta Public Schools told 11Alive's Blayne Alexander the change would lead to a better and safer experience for children. They say by creating its own police force, officers will be trained to deal directly with students, and can focus solely on schools.
