SkyTower could bring thrills to downtown Atlanta

ATLANTA -- A new sky-high thrill ride could be coming to downtown Atlanta.

SkyTower Atlanta would bring attractions next to Centennial Park:

The SkyTwist, which brings up to 20 riders from the street-level to the top of a 225-foot tall tower in a giant all-glass gondola that rotates. ($13.50 per person)

The SkyDrop, which sends riders on a free fall from 225-feet in the air. ($11 per person)

The SkyShot. a sling ride that vaults riders over 2-hundred feet in the air.  ($20 per person)

SkyTower Atlanta is believed to be the only vertical thrill park in the world to be situated in the downtown of a major metropolitan city

Plans for the new attraction were submitted for the city's approval on Oct. 22. Developers said it would cost about $5 million and provide 50 new full and part-time jobs to the city. They hope to break ground on the project in January and have the rides open by the summer of 2016.
