ATLANTA -- Thousands braved the rain Thursday for the Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk 5K.

While the weather wasn't entirely cooperative, crowds were excited to attend the annual event. The 11Alive StormTrackers were on hand to keep crowds informed of storms moving through the area -- and snap pictures with enthusiastic viewers!

Last year, more than 18,000 runners and walkers representing 400 companies filled downtown streets in the race and corporate celebration that's become a popular annual event in Atlanta.

“We’re thrilled that so many people and local businesses are supporting this event and its mission to get metro Atlantans moving,” says Michele Langevin, Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/ Walk & Fitness Program coordinator at Jeff Galloway Productions. “Movement is the key to health!”

The 5K is popular qualifier for the AJC Peachtree Roadrace, since it has a net downhill course and downhill finish. Runners faced a new course this year.. Check it out here.

“We want to end this year’s Run/Walk in a spectacular way, not only to celebrate our commitment to keeping Georgians healthy for the past 30 years, but to also acknowledge the hard work of every runner and walker who crosses that finish line,” said Julie Miller-Phipps, president of Kaiser Permanente of Georgia. “The hours following the race are already considered the world’s largest office party, and the fireworks display will take this celebration of fitness to an exciting, new level.”
