Some legislators support new stadium
News

ATLANTA, GA -- The first day of the legislative session revealed significant pockets of support for a new stadium to replace the Georgia Dome -- from across party lines and from across the state.

At some point this session, lawmakers expect to cast votes that will add $300 million state dollars from the hotel motel tax to built a new stadium mostly funded by the Falcons and the NFL. Just as there are pockets of support, there is also strong resistance. Senator Ross Tolleson is from Perry.

House Speaker David Ralston says lawmakers will be voting on tighter budgets this session for agencies across state government-- making a new stadium a tougher sell.
