Parking lot scam costs drivers more than $100 | News
ATLANTA -- Drivers throughout the City of Atlanta should be on the lookout for a parking scam resulting in booted vehicles and hefty price tags.
Tracy Kenyon experienced the scam firsthand when she pulled her car into the Parking Company of America lot on Peachtree Street across from The Vortex.
She was greeted by a well dressed man who told her it was $5 to park and gave her a ticket to display in her windshield. When she returned to the car, it was booted.
A booting company employee told Tracy she had been scammed and that the man who took her money had no affiliation with the lot.
Police advise drivers to read the signs carefully and not give anyone money unless you're sure they can prove they are affiliated with the lot.
