Fulton Health Services Encourages Residents to Check for Restaurant Inspection Scores | News
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
In their continued effort to keep diners safe, the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness’ Division of Environmental Health Services (EHS) encourages residents to check for posted restaurant inspection scores when dining out. Residents are also encouraged to report establishments that do not post restaurant inspection reports in visible areas.
Posted restaurant scores inform diners of the restaurant’s standing at the time of its last inspection. EHS inspection protocol requires restaurants to be inspected twice a year. Staff members are trained to conduct risk based inspections based on the latest Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) standardization guidelines. They also are required to obtain additional credentials in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and ServSafe, thereby providing the citizens and visitors to Fulton County with the most up-to-date knowledge in the food service industry.
Currently, EHS uses an inspection report with 18 categories based on a numerical (with 100 being the maximum score) and alphabetical rating (A,B,C,U). Of those 18 categories, 9 are listed as food-borne illness risk factors and public health interventions.
To report a restaurant or to ask general questions, call 404.613.1301. Log-on to http://www.fultoncountyga.gov/restaurant-inspections for more information about Environmental Health Services.
