Atlanta, Ga.--  The largest outdoor community health outreach awareness festival and concert in the city of Atlanta continues to celebrate their 5th anniversary with an official health care festival, concert and day of awareness at Lakewood located at 2002 Lakewood Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia 30315. “We were looking for a classic venue; big enough for our fan base to grow, and a permanent home for A-Town Day, “said The B-AWARE Foundation’s originator, Mr. Brian Glasper. 

Beginning Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 12pm, the family can enjoy fun-filled activities, food and music while receiving free health screenings and information.

With over 4,000 in attendance last year on Historic Sweet Auburn Avenue, the goal is to raise funds with the proceeds going towards The Diabetes Association of Atlanta & the B-AWARE Foundation. Children 6 and under are free and general admission is only $5.

Atlanta Community is Invited to Learn about Diabetes Risks and Next Steps at Educational Event

Atlanta, Ga.-  The Medicare Diabetes Screening Project (MDSP) will host a free educational event at Helene Mills Senior Center today, March 22, 2011 in celebration of Diabetes Alert Day. As diabetes rates rise among older adults, so does the need to educate them about the risks they face and the importance of getting screened for diabetes regularly by a doctor.

Area residents are encouraged to take the first step by participating in this free event where representatives from the Atlanta Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging, American Diabetes Association and the YMCA will be on hand to inform attendees about the free screening benefit available to Medicare recipients, and why this benefit is valuable to them.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta Kids Leap High to Break Guinness World Record for Jumping Jacks

Kids at the Brookhaven Boys & Girls Club will join Clubs from around the country on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in an attempt to break the world record for the most people Star Jumping (Jumping Jacks) simultaneously at multiple venues.

In Atlanta, the participants will begin the Star Jumps at the exact same time (6:30 p.m. ET) as everyone else in the country and jump for two minutes nonstop.

Guinness World Records defines the Star Jumps (Jumping Jacks) record as, “This record is for the most people Star Jumping (Jumping Jacks) simultaneously at multiple venues for two consecutive minutes.” Jumping Jacks are called Star Jumps in some countries because the arms, legs and head form a five-pointed star.
