Atlanta Medical Center, S. Fulton Medical Center merge | Health
EAST POINT, Ga. -- A recent consolidation led to the creation of the second largest hospital in Georgia.
Effective Jan. 1, Atlanta Medical Center and South Fulton Medical Center merged, becoming Atlanta Medical Center - South Campus.
The 762-bed hospital will serve communities south of Atlanta, including Camp Creek, College Park, East Point and Hapeville.
"Both of these hospitals have a long history of serving our communities," Atlanta Medical Center president and CEO William T. Moore said in a statement. "We are pleased to provide even greater service to our patients by combining our strengths, providing quality health care to a large region and offering a choice of location."
Atlanta Medical Center is owned by Tenet Healthcare Corporation.
