Atlanta Community is Invited to Learn about Diabetes Risks and Next Steps at Educational Event

Atlanta, Ga.-  The Medicare Diabetes Screening Project (MDSP) will host a free educational event at Helene Mills Senior Center today, March 22, 2011 in celebration of Diabetes Alert Day. As diabetes rates rise among older adults, so does the need to educate them about the risks they face and the importance of getting screened for diabetes regularly by a doctor.

Area residents are encouraged to take the first step by participating in this free event where representatives from the Atlanta Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging, American Diabetes Association and the YMCA will be on hand to inform attendees about the free screening benefit available to Medicare recipients, and why this benefit is valuable to them.
