Atlanta Community Food Bank will Roast 3 of Atlanta’s Top Chefs at the 2nd Legends of Atlanta Roast

Atlanta, GA--  Three of Atlanta’s most distinguished chef/restaurateurs – Gerry Klaskala, Anne Quatrano and Kevin Rathbun – will be put to the flames this November when they are roasted and toasted at the second Legends of Atlanta Hospitality Roast at the Atlanta Community Food Bank. This year’s event will be held Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 at 6 p.m.

Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless (HFTH) Hosts its Annual Holiday Season Kick-Off Event Nov. 1st

Atlanta, GA--  On Nov. 1, Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless (HFTH) will discuss Atlanta's homeless crisis, unemployment and a potential shortage this holiday season. With need increasing by 128%, Hosea expects to feed more than 40,000 on Thanksgiving Day alone.

Black Religious Scholars Group Holds 13th Annual Meeting on October 29th

Atlanta, GA--  The Black Religious Scholars Group’s (BRSG) thirteenth annual consultation entitled Making It Plain: Unmasking the Cultural Production of Evil in the Black Church and the World at Large,” is being held at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church located at 407 Auburn Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to the host church, Ebenezer Baptist Church, this event is co-hosted by the Candler School of Theology of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Trick-or-Treat Thru Castleberry Hill, Saturday October 30th

Atlanta, GA--  Come trick-or-treat through Castleberry Hill on Saturday, October 30th (the night BEFORE Halloween so kids can get 2 nights of fun this year!!!) starting at 6pm in front of Mueller Lofts. We’ll want to leave by about 6 so get plan to get there a bit before.

There will be businesses and buildings open and welcoming trick-or-treaters young and old, scary and furry so get those costumes ready and join us!

Sustainability Week Began Today with Mayor Reed's 'Power to Change' Blueprint

Atlanta, GA--  Mayor Reed today will announce his vision for sustainability in the City of Atlanta. His blueprint, “Power to Change,” outlines how Atlanta will become a top-ten sustainable city in the nation by 2012.

 

Southeast Weatherization & Energy Efficiency Training Center(SWEET) Opens at Atlanta Civic Center

Atlanta, GA--  The Southface SWEET Center, funded through both private contributions and federal ARRA monies, has already trained more than 700 weatherization professionals in home retrofitting and energy-efficiency techniques, benefiting over 3,500 low-income households to date.  They will be at the Atlanta Civic Center to showcase and educate what more can be done to keep our houses warm and for some, find a new job.

W Atlanta Downtown and Skirt Magazine support Atlanta's Young Survival Coalition

Atlanta, GA--  Young Survival Coalition, an organization to help young woman facing breast cancer, will be getting the support form the W hotel and Skirt Magazine on Wednesday, 10/27.  They will have drink specials, bites from BLT Steak, and Gigi's Cupcakes at a special price and all proceeds will go to charity.
