Team In Training now forming teams for sixth annual Publix Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon | Events
The Georgia Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training (TNT) program invites the community to join them for the sixth annual Publix Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon. The race, which takes place on March 18th, 2012, starts and finishes at Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta. The race course takes participants through many of the historic neighborhoods and landmarks of the city.
"This is the sixth year that the highly successful Publix Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon takes place in our state and we are thrilled to be a part of it once again," says Maureen Davidson, Georgia’s Team In Training Director. "We anticipate a fun and exciting event and, and as a Team In Training participant, you also get to help find a cure for cancer in the process!"
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training program is the world's leading sports charity training program. Since its inception in 1988, more than 540,000 have trained with the program to accomplish their goal of crossing the finish line at marathons, half marathons, triathlons and cycling century rides while raising much needed funds to battle blood cancer. Team In Training participants have raised more than $1.2 billion in that time.
In the five years that TNT has had a team in the Publix Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon, participants have raised $1.28 million for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Team In Training’s Fall Season Kickoff is at Park Tavern, on the corner of 10th Street and Monroe Avenue, on Wednesday, November 9th at 6:30pm. The public is invited to attend to learn more about the TNT season, meet the coaches and the local blood cancer survivors that serve as an inspiration to all participants. Johnny O., Q100 FM afternoon DJ, will be in attendance and he is also taking part in the Publix Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon with Team In Training.
Team In Training participants receive incredible benefits including dynamic, hands-on training from certified coaches, mentors for fundraising support, a custom website for online fundraising, a fabulous, activity-filled event weekend and training and social events with your team that build lifelong friendships.
