Seniors to learn how to shop and eat healthy on a budget

FULTON COUNTY -- The Fulton County Housing and Human Services Office of Aging’s East Point NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Community) and Georgia State University nutrition students will teach seniors how to shop and eat healthy on a budget.  The workshop will be held at 11:00 a,m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Peachtree Christian Church inside the chapel.  The church is located at 1706 Washington Road in East Point, GA 30344.  The workshop will cover topics such as:

• Healthy eating
• Food budgets for singles and couples
• Maximizing leftovers
• Reducing Food Waste
• Strategies for stretching your food dollar

A healthy snack will be provided for those seniors who would like to attend and lots of information about healthy eating strategies will be shared.  For more information, contact Leslie Bridges at 404-762-2094. East Point NORC is a collaboration of service agencies/organizations designed to reduce service fragmentation and create healthy, integrated communities where seniors living in Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities are able to age-in-place with greater comfort and security in their own homes.
