PNC and Ford invest in economic exhibit at Children's Museum of Atlanta

ATLANTA -– Families aren’t the only ones investing their time in The Children’s Museum of Atlanta’s newest economic traveling exhibit. The PNC Foundation and Ford Motor Company Fund have teamed up as official presenters for Moneyville, which will be featured at The Museum through Jan. 12, 2014. The exhibit’s central focus on building financial literacy aligns with both companies’ emphasis to support families and serves as an opportunity to educate them about money, credit and other economic issues.

"Research shows that the earlier we introduce children to math, reading and other school readiness skills, the more likely they are to succeed in elementary school," said Eddie Meyers, PNC regional president, Greater Georgia. "This collaboration with The Children's Museum of Atlanta will ensure that preschoolers have access to an exceptional learning experience from one of the region's finest educational institutions."

The exhibit allows guests to enter the vibrant “city” of Moneyville to discover economic concepts, math skills and problem-solving strategies that can help them with their real-life decision making. Moneyville’s exciting, immersive environment and use of highly interactive activities, games and simulations helps keep the educational lessons fun, engaging and playful.

“This is a fun way to support families around the important topic of money and finances,” said Jim Vella, president of Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. “Problem solving strategies, critical thinking and money management are all crucial skills, and we are pleased to partner with The Children’s Museum of Atlanta to offer families this educational opportunity.”

As joint presenters of the exhibit, PNC and Ford Motor Company support The Children’s Museum of Atlanta’s mission to spark imagination and inspire discovery and learning for all children through the power of play.

“We are so thankful for the collaboration from both PNC and Ford Motor Company Fund,” said Jane Turner, executive director of The Children’s Museum of Atlanta. “Their role in supporting the Moneyville exhibit helps us facilitate creative play, provides The Museum with tools to make learning exciting and gives children the opportunity to gain invaluable life skills.”

Moneyville was made possible by the generous support of the National Science Foundation, the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation and The NASDAQ Stock Market Educational Foundation, Inc. The exhibit was created and is toured by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.  MONEYOPOLIS is a registered trademark of Ernst & Young. The MONEYVILLE trademark is used under license.
