Luminosity Presents "Hinterland" on 11/27 starring Big Boi from Outkast

Atlanta, GA--  Luminocity Atlanta’s world premiere light-based mobile performance will take place on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 7:00p.m. starting at the historic Downtown Atlanta Woodruff Park with Hinterland, a new creation by gloATL starring Big Boi. This progressive, migrating work combines light, technology, dance, music, aerial, and theatrical design to create an explosion of utopian confetti, breathtaking visuals, and dynamic movement.  
The free to the public event will feature a cast of unique, illuminated characters and music that will incorporate a myriad of sounds and cultural rhythms, completed by the performance of world-renowned artist Antwan “Big Boi” Patton as the “Ringmeister”.

Mayor Reed Announces an Atlanta-French Connection

ATLANTA (AP) - Officials from France and Atlanta plan to annouce a partnership between Atlanta and France in science, business, humanitarian efforts and the arts.

"France-Atlanta: Together towards Innovation" will kick off Nov. 29 and wrap up on Dec. 12.

The collaboration is to include a series of 20 events. Prominent figures from the French governmental, cultural and scientific sectors plan to travel to Atlanta during the two-week period.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and French Consul General Pascal Le Deunff are set to join Yves Berthelot, vice provost of Georgia Tech and president of Georgia Tech's campus in France, to announce the partnership Monday.

BET's 'Master of the Mix' Reality Show has strong Atlanta Ties

Atlanta, GA--  BET Centric has a new reality show currently airing called Master of the Mix, in which a number of DJ's have been living in a Hollywood house vying for the chance to be crowned Master of the Mix and win $250,000 in cash and prizes.  DJ Mars, well known in Atlanta for being one of the founders of The World Famous Super Friends Crew and for working with a number of large Atlanta R&B acts, is a finalist in the show and is on his way to London for the filming of the last episode.

The competition kicked off November 3rd with approx 800, 000 viewers tuning into the DJ’s base camp of a luxurious home in the Hollywood Hills.

Bring in the Holidays with Georgia State University Gala Holiday Concert: December 4 &5

Atlanta, GA--  The Georgia State University School of Music and the Rialto Center for the Arts present the 13th annual Gala Holiday Concert on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 3 p.m. at the Rialto Center for the Arts.

Over 200 student and faculty musicians will perform as part of this university-wide celebration of the season, including members of the University Symphony Orchestra, Choruses, Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble. Conductors Michael Palmer, Robert Ambrose, Gordon Vernick and Deanna Joseph will lead the ensembles and soloists in a musical potpourri of works by Duke Ellington, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Schubert, Holst and others. W. Dwight Coleman serves as artistic director.

In addition, the performances will feature special guest appearances by members of Atlanta’s diverse cultural community.

Legendary Guitarist John Mclaughlin Performs at the Rialto Center on Saturday 11/20

Atlanta, GA--  Considered by many to be among the finest guitarists of all-time,  John McLaughlin, ever the innovator, has now assembled a stellar outfit to interpret his latest musical direction, moving further along the pathway laid out by John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme.

For the first time on the Rialto’s stage, England’s John McLaughlin will excite the crowd with his innovative and creative jazz guitar.  John’s guitar playing styles include the infusion of jazz, Indian and Western classical fusion, and even an element of flamenco.  John McLaughlin has performed with artists including Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones, Carla Bley, and Carlos Santana.
