ATLANTA – There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

Come out to the Taste of the Highlands, tickets sales end on May 13 at noon but the festival starts on Saturday, May 14 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the Highlands. This year, participants can enjoy local favorites like La Travola, Murphy’s, El Taco, Atkins Parks, Rosebud, DBA Barbecue, Goin’ Costal and Barefoot Wine. For more information visit them online.

The Kirkwood Spring Fling and Tour of Homes/5K Road Race will begin on Saturday, May 14 and continue until May 15. This is Kirkwood’s ninth annual festival; the festival features an open air artist market, a concert, a children’s area, food vendors and plenty of fellowship with neighbors. Get your tickets for one of the two matchups between the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies for the annual Civil Rights Game and tribute to the Negro Leagues. The Friday game will be held at 7:35 p.m. and the Saturday game will begin at 1:05 p.m. both prequels to the actual Civil Rights Game, which will be held on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The first 20,000 fans to arrive at the game will receive an Atlanta Black Cracker Replica Cap. These games will feature performances by artists like Ludacris, Gloria Gaynor and Gospel Artist Marvin Sapp. The games will be held at Turner Field.  

This weekend, go hang out in Buckhead for the Buckhead Arts Festival. The festival will be held at Chastain Park from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15. The event features about 195 painters, photographers, sculptors, leather and metal crafters and a host of other artists. The festival will also have food and beverage vendors. Chastain Park is located at 4469 Stella Drive in Atlanta.

Studioplex Lofts in the O4W will hold an ArtWalkFest on Saturday, May 14 from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The festival will have more than 40 artists across multiple disciplines, displaying in 40 open lofts. Visit the event online here.

The City of Alpharetta has a couple of races on Saturday, under the collective heading of the Mayor's Challenge. There is a 5k and 10k that begins at the Wills Park Swimming Pool at 7:15 a.m. Also, starting at 8:30 a.m. the city is hosting a one mile fun run and walk; and at the culmination of both events, there will be a pancake breakfast. Willis Park Swimming Pool is located at the corner of Wills Road and Old Milton Parkway.

Residents should come out and help homeless mothers and their children in north Fulton County by participating in the Drake House 5K, 10K and one miler. The Drake House is hosting a walk that will benefit the Roswell empowerment housing. All of the races will begin at Roswell United Methodist Church which is located at Mimosa and Magnolia. The Drake Walk begins at 9:30 a.m. and will walk through Historic Roswell.
