Project Overcoat, seeks to collect warm clothing for the Homeless at metro Krogers until Jan. 22nd

Atlanta, GA--  (submitted by United Way)

During the frigid winter months, imagine sleeping on the cold pavement. Imagine wearing only doubled-up T-shirts to work in 20-degree weather because that’s all you have to keep warm. Unfortunately, this is the reality for far too many metro Atlantans who are homeless or can’t afford a coat or blanket.

From Jan. 8-22, everyone is encouraged to drop off blankets or new or gently used coats of all sizes at any Kroger in the metro region.

WHAT:  Project Overcoat. All sizes needed, from children to adult sizes.

WHEN:  Jan. 8-22. Drop off at any Kroger store in metro Atlanta.

VOLUNTEER:  Volunteers are needed to help sort coats at The Carpenter's House in Atlanta from Jan. 17-28.

CONTACT:  If you are interested in volunteering, contact Lea Rolfes, United Way director of

volunteerism, at 404-527-3533
