Fulton County Takes Preventive Health Services to Adults through Six SPARC Atlanta Clinics

Atlanta, GA--  SPARC Atlanta (Sickness Prevention Achieved through Regional Collaboration) clinics will bring preventive health services to Fulton County communities beginning Thursday, October 7, 2010.  The clinics specifically target low-income older adults.

SPARC clinics are much more than health fairs.  SPARC Atlanta is an innovative approach to increasing preventive health care service use among underserved persons.  Citizens who visit SPARC clinics take advantage of more than a dozen health screenings and education.  The clinics provide referrals when appropriate and track the actions and progress of those who attend.  Recognized as an evidence-based practice, SPARC has been replicated in different areas of the U.S.

The services provided this fall include:

  • Clinical breast exams, mammography and pap test referrals
  • Influenza, tetanus and pneumonia immunizations
  • STD/HIV Screenings
  • Cholesterol/Blood Glucose
  • BMI
  • Vision
  • Dental
  • Healthy Mind
  • Blood Pressure
  • Health Education and referrals

The clinics will accept Medicare/Medicaid and some private insurance for adults who present insurance cards; however, no one will be turned away.
