Atlanta, GA--  (submitted by City Hall)  City Councilmember Cleta Winslow and the Atlanta Police Department invite the public to a free crime prevention and block watch captains training session scheduled from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, December 4 at Atlanta City Hall, Committee Room 2, 55 Trinity Avenue S.W.

All training will be conducted by the Atlanta Police Department’s Community Services Unit. 

“This training session will be a tremendous asset that will strengthen and increase safety in our communities,” said Councilwoman Winslow.”  Protecting ourselves from criminal intrusion should be high on our list of priorities.”

Certificates will be awarded to each participant.

Topics will include:


? Community Oriented Policing

a. Weed and Seed

b. Police Athletic League (PAL)

c. Community Liaison Officers

d. Crime Prevention/Christmas Holiday Safety Tips


? Youth Gang Unit

? Identity Theft (As residents, what you need to know)

? Block Captain Duties

?Court Watch

? 911 Calls (How and Why 911 calls are prioritized)

There will also be information tables on the following:
