The Coca-Cola Company Employees Sort Food Items Donated From 11Alive Can-a-thon

Atlanta, GA--  During the month of December, we at 11Alive all banded together a collected more than a ton of canned goods in our annual Can-a-thon.  We set up locations across the city and hundreds of Atlanta residents graciously donated items for the event.

On Saturday, January 22nd,  approximately 50 volunteers from The Coca-Cola Company will sort and prep over 92,000 donated food items for The Salvation Army to distribute to local residents in need.

The Salvation Army Metro Atlanta Area Command received the 92,345 donated food items during the 28th Annual 11Alive Holiday Can-A-Thon.

Traditionally, as part of their annual Martin Luther King Day Volunteer Service, The Coca-Cola Company employees are the first volunteer group to begin sorting the food items. This year’s winter storms foiled their MLK Day plans, but the group is excited to roll up their sleeves and start separating and sorting thousands of canned vegetables, meats, fruit, jelly, and so forth for hungry Georgians.
