The Atlanta BeltLine is Breaking Ground on the Eastside Trail, 10/30 at 10am

Atlanta, GA--  The Atlanta BeltLine is breaking ground on one of the most talked-about developments in Atlanta, the Eastside Trail.  The groundbreaking ceremony will mark the beginning of construction on the 2.5-mile segment of trail running from DeKalb Avenue to 10th Street and Monroe Drive at the tip of Piedmont Park, which is projected to be complete in summer of 2011.

The new Eastside Trail will be a 14-foot wide concrete multi-use trail in the Atlanta BeltLine right-of-way which will connect Piedmont Park, the new Historic Fourth Ward Park which is now under construction, and the Freedom Park trail. It will provide new connectivity for several in-town neighborhoods and encourage healthy living habits such as walking, jogging and cycling.

The new trail is the first phase in developing the Atlanta BeltLine corridor into a new public space that will include a new pedestrian-friendly transit system and linear park.
