Two alarm fire destroys three units at west Atlanta apartment

ATLANTA -- Atlanta Fire crews were on the scene of a two alarm fire in west Atlanta on Saturday.

The fire happened at the Village at Castleberry Hill Apartments east of Spellman College in the 500 block of Greensferry Avenue.

ATLANTA -- A dreary day in Atlanta got that much drearier for dozens - perhaps hundreds - of visitors downtown, Sunday.

Six taken to hospital after Peachtree Road multi-vehicle accident

ATLANTA -- 11Alive is working to gather more details on a downtown Atlanta accident that sent 6 people to the hospital Saturday evening.

Peachtree Road was shut down in front of the Ritz Carlton because of the wreck which involved five cars.

The exact cause of the wreck has not yet been released though officials advised earlier that motorists should avoid the area or use caution if driving there.

Former Ga. Tech player arrested after being shot outside restaurant

ATLANTA -- A former Georgia Tech and NBA player was arrested after being shot outside of an Atlanta restaurant on Sunday.

According to Atlanta Police, a worker at 925 Scales Restaurant, located at 30 Ivan Allen Blvd., told authorities that five to six men were asked to leave the restaurant after an argument. After the men left, the argument continued in the parking lot. A fight ensued and a man was shot in the leg. Authorities identified the victim as Glen Rice, Jr., a former Georgia Tech and professional basketball player.

Arrest made in Pine Street murder of Guardsman

ATLANTA -- Atlanta police have arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting near the downtown Peachtree-Pine homeless shelter.

Harold Dodson, 21, was arrested on Friday at 2060 Bolton Road, NW, in connection with the fatal Aug. 30 shooting of Georgia Army National Guard Sgt. Atting Eminue.

Investigators said Eminue, 24, of Lawrenceville and a woman were walking back to their car around 1:30 a.m. His family said Eminue was trying to donate shoes to the shelter before he went home, and that he had often donated what he could to the homeless.  Witnesses told police that he and the other man argued, and that the other man pulled a gun and shot them both before running away. Eminue died at the scene. 

SkyTower could bring thrills to downtown Atlanta

ATLANTA -- A new sky-high thrill ride could be coming to downtown Atlanta.

SkyTower Atlanta would bring attractions next to Centennial Park:

The SkyTwist, which brings up to 20 riders from the street-level to the top of a 225-foot tall tower in a giant all-glass gondola that rotates. ($13.50 per person)

The SkyDrop, which sends riders on a free fall from 225-feet in the air. ($11 per person)
